The Vintage Festival was back last weekend for it's second year! After the major success of the festival organised by designer Wayne Hemingway last year, it moved to London's Southbank Centre for three days of nostalgia and indulgence!
I thought this was a really good move, the Southbank is a vibrant and exciting place for new acts, artists and performers and it was a carnival like atmosphere inside and outside the festival with everyone enjoying the sunshine. Selfishly, as it was in London it made it very easy to just go for the day!
The festival boasted on being the best dressed and from the perfectly coiffed hair right down to vintage Mary Jane's the style was exceptional. There was just so much to do and see with stalls, dances and exhibits, that it well surpassed expectations! Every era was lovingly represented and the unique opportunity to enjoy them all on one day was a real treat. We went from 90s rave in the warehouse to the 70s funk disco on the balcony right up to the listening room on the top floor for classic British albums. Looking out over the Thames on a beautiful day, listening to "Here comes the sun" by the Beatles has to be one of my best moments of the summer so far!
Another high point was the Daisy and Pearle Lowe fashion show which mixed vintage corsets and beautiful lace dresses with gothic velvet, feathers and flowing layered skirts. I thought using ballerinas showed the dresses off perfectly and gave it a theatrical twist!
There was so much to see and do that I was exhausted that seven hours seemed to slip by in a few minutes! Thoroughly enjoyed the day and fingers crossed it will be back next year as I will definitely return!
